From ceremony to celebration

From the atmospheric, oak-panelled Music Room to the charming Laundry House and a number of light-filled reception rooms, Gilmerton House provides a range of elegant spaces for your ceremony and celebration. The gardens and woodland canopies provide additional outdoor settings, including areas suited to marquees and larger gatherings. If you would like to marry in a church and hold your celebration at Gilmerton, we are happy to introduce you to one of the local parishes nearby.

The Laundry House
Originally built in 1804, the restored Laundry House with its beamed roof, flagstone floor and beautiful courtyard is the perfect contemporary space for a celebration.
Gardens & Marquees
A collection of distinctive settings across the grounds, from the Rose Garden to the canopy of the estate's 250-year-old Californian sequoia tree, with room for a marquee when the celebration calls for more space.
The Music Room
Steeped in grandeur, the oak-panelled Music Room is lined with antique books and family portraits. Ornate and intimate, it brings a sense of occasion to ceremonies and intimate wedding breakfasts.
The House
Get ready in the house with your closest friends and family, and move between the many reception rooms for quieter moments between celebrations.

THE MUSIC ROOM

For ceremonies of up to 100 guests, or seated wedding breakfasts and dinners for up to 50.

THE LAUNDRY HOUSE

For ceremonies of up to 120 guests, or seated receptions and evening celebrations for up to 100.

GARDENS & MARQUEES

For outdoor ceremonies and marquee celebrations of up to 200 guests, seated or standing.

ACCOMMODATION

More than a wedding day

We understand that the best celebrations unfold slowly, which is why weddings at Gilmerton House include a three-night minimum stay for up to twenty-four resident guests. From the bridal suite and grand bathrooms with roll-top baths and walk-in showers to the billiards room, roaring log fires and farmhouse kitchen, guests enjoy complete privacy in peaceful surroundings.
