“Gilmerton House was the perfect setting for the team to come together before the intensity of the Ryder Cup. The history, the privacy, the hospitality, it’s exactly what we needed”

— Luke Donald, European Ryder Cup Captain, 2025

BEYOND THE COURSE

A retreat between rounds

A golf retreat at Gilmerton is built around your tee times and the hours around them – private dining, easy evenings and a house to gather in between rounds. Come back from the course to a whisky by the fire, an afternoon on the driving range, or clay pigeon shooting and archery in the grounds. With generous indoor and outdoor spaces, there is plenty here for golfers and non-golfers alike.

HISTORY

A golfing legacy

The Kinlochs of Gilmerton have long been intertwined with the history of Scottish golf. Sir David Kinloch, 9th Baronet, was among the early Captains of North Berwick in 1836, but it was his son, Sir Alexander, 10th Baronet, who brought the family name to prominence, serving as Captain of several leading clubs, including The R&A in St Andrews, North Berwick, and Muirfield alongside Old Tom Morris in 1891.

His son, Brigadier General Sir David Kinloch, 11th Baronet, continued the tradition, captaining numerous clubs across Britain and founding clubs and societies that shaped the modern game.
