Now that winter is officially here, our thoughts turn to Christmas – one of our favourite times of the year, when the snow blankets the estate, crackling fires warm the hearth, and the inviting aroma of mulled wine fills the corridors.

Kilduff Farm Christmas Market

Dates: December 1st and 2nd, 2023

Explore a variety of unique Christmas gift ideas and tasty treats from local makers, producers, and independent retailers. From jewelry and clothing to decorations and farm produce, find the perfect gift for everyone.

Stenton Christmas Market

Date: December 9th, 10 am – 3 pm

Stenton's 3rd Christmas Market featuring a diverse range of stalls. Remember to bring change for the £1 entry fee and refreshments. Doors open at 10 am.

Brand Family Outdoor Market

Date: December 10th

Visit the Brand Family Farm in East Fortune for an outdoor Christmas Market with a variety of products, from fresh eggs to home-reared pork and more. Dogs are welcome, and free field parking is available.

Whitekirk Hill Christmas Fair

Date: December 15th

Bring your four legged friend to meet Santa in his cosy, festive yurt. The opportunity for a picture with Santa and those pets that have made the "Nice List" will receive a present.

Archerfield Walled Garden Christmas

Dates: November 26th to December 23rd, 2023

Experience the magic of Christmas at Archerfield Walled Garden with activities like letter-writing to Father Christmas, a visit to Santa's cabin, a theatrical festive tale, and 'The Christmas Tipi' performance on select dates.

Musselburgh Races

Dates: December 18th

The Pantomime at the Brunton Theatre

Dates: December 17th - 30th

Christmas isn’t complete without a trip to the Pantomime. Cinderella receives an invitation to Prince McCharming’s royal birthday party, but with her step-siblings Hackit and Glackit, the so-called fungal sensations vying for the royal Tik Tok star’s hand in marriage, they stop at nothing to keep Cinderella locked away. After a brief encounter between Cinderella and the Prince, he vows to search the kingdom for his one true love.

Christmas at the Botanics Light Trail, Edinburgh

Dates: November 16th to December 30th, 2023

Explore the dazzling light trail at Edinburgh's Botanics, featuring over a million twinkling lights, giant baubles, and a seasonal soundscape. Colourful illuminations of huge seed heads, larger-than-life crocuses and dazzling pampas grass along with trees festooned with lights make up this year’s festive trail at Edinburgh’s Botanics. After dark, the stunning gardens are transformed into a mesmerising winter wonderland with over a million twinkling lights and a seasonal soundscape. Walk through dazzling tunnels of light, under giant baubles and pause to watch the flickering flames of the fire garden. Monteviot Lights – The Scottish Borders’ first winter light trail

Dates: November 30th – December 3rd and December 6th – 10th, 2023

Monteviot Gardens: A festive light trail from November 30th to December 10th, 2023. Wander through beautifully lit gardens and woods within the historic grounds, where each light and audio installation has been carefully chosen to accentuate the natural beauty of the surroundings. Immerse yourself in the magic of nature as you explore this illuminated journey through the enchanting gardens.

Alnwick Garden Winter Light Trail

Alnwick Gardens: A fantastic sound and light display from November to January. This is the 5th year of The Alnwick Garden Winter Light Trail. The Award Winning Winter Light Trail returns this Christmas. Watch as Alnwick Garden comes to life like you have never seen it before with fantastic sound and light display at this after-dark spectacular! This year, there are even more opportunities to visit the light trail with an extended run from November all the way through to the 7th January. Expect a fantastic sound and light trail which will lead you around the Garden at this after dark spectacular.
